Got the solid red light (never blinked or changed color) and holding start on power up with an original disc never showed anything. The chip would be better if it had dividers where you solder the sides of a single hole and alignment printings on the PCB. Knowledge Base: Xeno GC Modchip (xenogc, xen8gc) installationĪs a novice solderer, thought I would give this a try but between my shaky hands, only having desoldering braid to remove mistakes, and limited diagnostics I've given up installing this chip and will just buy pre-modded.
Check your install if you only get the red LED, or it doesn't light up at all. Once the drive has been patched successfully, the green LED will light up. The red LED is active when the drive resets and the chip is doing its job. The XenoGC features two status LEDs to indicate correct function. XenoGC Shell (multi game disc loader) - Press START button during disc load.Force PAL display mode - Press Y button during disc load.Force NTSC display mode - Press X button during disc load.
Disable DRE fix - Press right shoulder button during disc load. Disable audio fix - Press left shoulder button during disc load. self booting homebrew linux discs (thanks to Isobel). switchable read setting adjustment / error retry. compatible with all regions & all versions. This chip has a unique hardware design which directly interfaces with the serial debug port on the laser unit. It is installed directly to the optical drive's logic board and injects patch code into the drive at run time and makes the console region free. In fact, I might eventually get one, and you might eventually see my HDLoader up on the forum for sale lol.Xeno GC is a low cost easy solder modchip for theNintendo GameCube. I would much rather just be able to burn a game to disc and then be done with it forever. I guess you can buy a bigger drive, but I didn't want to, and the fact that IDE drives are kinda expensive now in my opinion.Īll that being said, I would much rather have a mod chip for my PS2. Then, once filled, there's the annoyance of having to delete a game off the drive to put a new one on. My biggest spare drive that I didn't mind devoting to the PS2 is 80GB, which can be filled up rather quickly with PS2 games. Doesn't sound that bad but gets old fast.Īlso, you have to consider the size of the drive. First off, you can play backups with it but every time you wanna put a new game on it you have to take it out of the PS2 and hook it up to a computer, load the ISO(s) onto the drive, then replace the drive in the PS2. I have HDLoader, and I'm not liking it as much as I thought I would. Good luck, though, if you're really set on a modchip. Lisalover1 wrote:HDLoader can be far more convienient than a bunch of DVDs.
